AUGER DRIVE QUESTIONS

What to Know Before Choosing an Auger

Find answers about machine compatibility, auger bits, drilling depth, warranties, and purchasing your Lawsen auger setup.

It uses an internal planetary gearbox to transfer power from the hydraulic motor to the auger bit. Lawsen’s planetary design does not use a chain-reduction system.

Start with your machine’s hydraulic flow, mounting setup, and capacity. Then choose a compatible bit diameter and output shaft. Lawsen offers setups for skid steers and excavators, including mini excavators; ask us to confirm your configuration.

Choose for the ground conditions and hole size. Standard-duty bits suit dirt and clay, while aggressive-duty and bullet-tooth options address harder materials. Confirm that the bit’s collar, diameter, and application match your drive.

Available drilling depth depends on the bit length, drive, machine reach, and working conditions. Extensions are offered in lengths from 24 to 72 inches. Confirm a suitable setup with our team rather than assuming extension length equals usable drilling depth.

Lawsen lists a 5-year warranty on the auger drive, a 3-year warranty on the motor, and a 1-year warranty on auger bits. Contact our team for coverage details.
